Dr. Anne Thompson earned her B.A. from Colgate University, her M.A. in Psychology from New York University, and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from New York University. Throughout her doctoral program she received clinical training at New York University's Psychology Clinic, with an emphasis on adult individual psychotherapy, couples and family therapy. In addition, she held a Staff Psychologist position at EDRC, an outpatient psychotherapy center in New York City specializing in the treatment of eating disorders, where she worked with Dr. Judith Brisman for nine years.

Dr. Thompson is in private practice in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Thompson's clinical approach, though drawn primarily from contemporary psychoanalytic theory, is also largely influenced by attachment theory, and mindfulness based interventions. When necessary, Dr. Thompson incorporates cognitive and dialectical behavioral techniques (DBT). Dr. Thompson recently completed an intensive training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) with Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli. Dr. Thompson also has just completed her first year as a candidate in psychoanalysis at the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis (ICP).
